Thank you for visiting and learning more about me. My expertise as a writer and editor is helping people like you to tell their stories, and it’s work I love doing.
Why renegade? During fifteen years of acquiring and editing for some of the world’s biggest book publishers, I always dreamed of going freelance. As much as I enjoyed that time, I never saw myself as a “good corporate citizen.” For all its many wonderful qualities and people, the industry can be exclusive. Writing is for everyone and professional editorial services should be accessible, too.
I specialize in narrative nonfiction across genres, including memoir and biography, culture, arts, humour, sports, politics, history, business, and more. I’m a lifelong learner and relish teaming up with enthusiastic and knowledgeable people. If you’re excited about your work, then I’m eager to work with you.
More than anything, I offer trust and time. My years in the publishing industry mean you can trust that I work to the highest standard. I’ve collaborated with some of Canada’s leading thinkers, scholars, journalists, celebrities, and storytellers, and successfully published many debut authors. Most of the books I developed were national bestsellers, and many garnered top awards. Excellence is always the goal, and I consider it part of my job to make sure you feel confident that the work we do together is your best work.
I also save you time. Any writing project can become a big undertaking. Our work together gets right to the heart of what needs to be done so you can stop second guessing and finally get your writing across the finish line. And I know that as much as you want the work done right, you also want it published yesterday. That’s why I work quickly, so your message gets out to those who need to hear it.
I’ve always counted myself lucky to work with amazingly talented and driven people. To see some of the books I’ve successfully edited, visit the Projects section and click on the covers for links to more information.
If you think I might be a good fit, or simply want to learn more, please visit the Contact section and get in touch. I’d love to hear about your work and discuss how I can help.
